Coaching vs. Mentoring

Although closely linked, coaching and mentoring are distinct:

  • Coaching is a structured, future-focused process. It uses questioning and reflection to help leaders uncover their own solutions, build confidence, and strengthen decision-making. It empowers leaders to think differently and act with clarity.

  • Mentoring draws on direct professional experience. A mentor shares insights, offers guidance, and provides practical strategies based on having faced similar challenges. It is more directive and reassurance-based.

Our model combines both. One of our senior consultants is a qualified coach and mentor, while the wider team of school directors provide strategic and experience-driven mentoring.
